European patent for coloured glass
Development of new glass mixtures is only one of the projects in which the RC eNEm – subsidiary Nano-materials and the Nanotesla institute are engaged
A year ago the RC eNEm New materials development centre was established in the glass industry with purpose of developing new materials and products. Development of new glass mixtures is only one of the projects in which the RC eNEm – subsidiary Nano-materials and the Nanotesla institute are engaged.
»Goal of our project was coloured and opal glass made of new components so far not yet applied in preparation of mixtures for glass, "explains Mateja Koritnik, head of the mixing department in Steklarna Hrastnik, and adds that manufacture of colourer glass is a great challenge, for under the ever stricter chemical and environmental legislation more and more substances are deemed unfit for application. »In the last year we - together with the Nanotesla institute - have therefore developed new mixtures for the coloured glass." By joining know-how colours in black, blue, violet, peach and green shades were developed in the lab.
RC eNEm – a subsidiary of the Nanotesla institute – Nano-materials in the glass industry and the Nanotesla institute have registered said achievement also with the European patent agency in Munich.
